The route
Shooting in Shinjuku
Shinjuku is Tokyo at full volume — layered signage, narrow lanes, and light that changes character block by block. It photographs like a film set that never stops moving.
We shoot between glowing alleys, quieter side streets, and a beautiful shrine hidden among the towers — letting the neon do the lighting work while you simply react to the city.

What the route covers
Neon-lit alleys
Narrow lanes wrapped in signage and lantern light — the classic cinematic Shinjuku backdrop.
A shrine between the towers
A beautiful, quiet shrine Jannis often shoots at — traditional lines in calm contrast to the surrounding neon and glass.
Evening atmosphere
As dusk falls the district turns into natural stage lighting — rich color without any flash.
Practical notes
Good to know
- Strongest after sunset, when the neon becomes the main light source.
- Expect short walks between spots on mostly flat streets.
- Busy evenings are part of the look — movement around you reads as cinematic energy.
